Moshi Town, Tanzania

Coronavirus has arrived in Tanzania, and specifically in Moshi Town, where Kijana Kwanza (Young People First) has a shelter for 24 orphans and children.

Schools are closed and our premises are on lockdown. The local tourist industry has collapsed, with hundreds unemployed and unable to feed their families. Food prices are increasing and basic supplies such as handwash and soap are unaffordable.

Help us distribute hygiene kits and food parcels to affected families.

We urgently need your support to enable us to:

1) Distribute 1,000s of hygiene kits with anti-bacterial soap for the elderly and vulnerable at a cost of £3 each.

2) Support 100s of households in Moshi Town who have suffered unemployment due to the pandemic with fortnightly food baskets for the next 3 months. Each food basket costs just £25.

3) Deliver an information campaign including printing 50,000 pamphlets, visiting 100s of individual households and conducting public announcements around town in partnership with Moshi and surrounding villages.

If Western countries can’t cope, how will Tanzania survive?
