Meet The Team

The people who are making it all happen

Riaz Hussain
Riaz Hussain
Five years’ experience in account and project management means Riaz has all the skills he needs to oversee our campaigns and take care of our campaign creators. As well as being a board member of his own charity, he serves as a board member for various other charitable trusts too. Working with start-ups has given him an optimistic and energetic personality that comes across in the excellent way he deals with customers. Riaz is a known health and fitness fanatic with a liking for real estate and property.
Amjad Shah
Amjad Shah
During his 30 years in the Muslim charity sector, Amjad has set up countless relief projects and supported numerous charities. With a background in accounting and charity governance, most of his work revolves around helping organisations grow and become more effective. For Amjad, working in the charity sector is an act of worship, and he’s excited about developing new ideas and life-changing projects through FundAmal. When he’s not doing charity work, he’s either cycling or finding some way to feed his obsession with bikes.
Elest Ali Korkmaz
Elest Ali Korkmaz
Elest is a writer, editor and literary pervert with cats. Once the Food Editor of a high-profile city guide, she’s now a freelancer by day and author by night, labouring with love over various projects - one of which is FundAmal. London born and bred, Elest currently lives in Turkey with her husband, where she’s learning to adopt a waste-free, self-sustained and semi-rural way of life that involves eating what she grows.
Irfan Akram
Irfan Akram
Irfan creates growth strategies for Muslim organisations in the financial, retail and charity sectors. He uses his digital marketing superpowers to deliver money-making campaigns that raise millions for the UK’s most popular Muslim charities. With a team of techies and creatives behind him, his sweet spot is targeting, converting and retaining customers for his clients. He makes a mean banana and date loaf, but since he doesn’t exercise nearly enough – his baking skills are becoming quite the problem.
Sheena Bo
Sheena Bo
Sheena’s the glue that holds our team together. She’s responsible for making sure everyone knows what they’re doing and when, as well as managing all our projects and meetings. She’s also in charge of our hiring process, and it’s Sheena that brings top talent to the FundAmal team. A complete and utter movie addict (all genres; she doesn’t discriminate), her favourite pastime is watching Netflix with a packet of toffee popcorn to keep her company. For Amjad, working in the charity sector is an act of worship, and he’s excited about developing new ideas and life-changing projects through FundAmal. When he’s not doing charity work, he’s either cycling or finding some way to feed his obsession with bikes.
Amy Pettitt
Amy Pettitt
A born intellectual, Amy graduated from the University of Manchester in Politics and International Relations. Since then, she’s worked with various not-for-profit organisations in fundraising. Now, she’s using her smarts to manage the digital marketing activities of the UK’s biggest Muslim charities. In her spare time, you’ll catch Amy reading Nordic crime, English classics and good old American thrillers.
Amnah Shah
Amnah Shah
Between raising five children, Amnah has dedicated her life to supporting local grassroots projects that benefit the Muslim community. And as a Muslim chaplain with a background in law, she has a deep understanding of the issues faced by UK Muslims. She’s in the perfect position to help us develop new ideas that will further Muslims and Islam. Amnah is an avid reader, but she’d rather spend her free time helping others.
Zaphod Mitchell
Zaphod Mitchell
Zaphod is a born graphic designer. Once he’d left college, he started work as an apprentice in creative design and development. After years of honing his craft, Zaphod now uses his talent to produce impressive visuals for top charities across the world. His unusual name comes from Douglas Adam’s famous sci-fi series, ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’. When he’s not creating eye-catching designs, he spends his time gaming and taking part in historical re-enactments.
Saima Hussain
Saima Hussain
Saima has over 10 years’ experience delivering technical programmes and software projects for some of the biggest companies in the UK, including SKY, Tesco and the BBC. She managed the delivery of Europe’s largest Muslim event – Global Peace and Unity – and has since gone on to work with numerous not-for-profits. Now, she’s the co-founder and finance director of a popular UK-based marketing agency. Everyone’s a little afraid of Saima. Except for her son, who doesn’t know any better. Yet.
Jenny Jimenez
Jenny Jimenez
Jenny is a freelance copywriter who specialises in content writing, search engine optimisation and social media. (You can never have too many writers on one team!). When she’s not tapping away at her keyboard, she’s lost in the online world of Instagram and Twitter – just like any social media expert should be.
